Lifestyle Entrepreneur

Lifestyle Entrepreneur: What is the definition?

The definition of a lifestyle entrepreneur is a business owner who prioritizes lifestyle benefits over profits.

Lifestyle entrepreneurs are known for organizing their work and business activities around their own lifestyle goals. These goals often including flexible hours, fulfilling work, spending time with family and friends, hobbies, charity work, or creative pursuits.

Making money is still important to lifestyle entrepreneurs (because they are still business professionals) but "enough" money is often more important than the more traditional capitalist pursuit of wealth.

How do Lifestyle Entrepreneurs differ?

Lifestyle entrepreneurs differ from most start-up founders or executives because they deliberately balance their work and their play to create lifestyle businesses that support their favorite activities while also making money.

Pleasing their venture capital investors or shareholders takes a back seat to doing the work they were born to do, and having a good time doing it.

Many Click Millionaires pursue lifestyle entrepreneurship by starting Internet-based lifestyle businesses.  [See the definition of Click Millionaires here.]

They often start by reading  the #1 guide to starting your own lifestyle business online, Click Millionaires, by Scott Fox.

I think "lifestyle entrepreneur" can be defined as someone living on an island of his own.He does not have a boss to report to and makes fairly good income on the internet. He spends only 3 hours on the net and spend the rest of his time with his family and loved ones. He has no worries and constantly on the move. I am currently pursuing this dream and 80% sure of reaching this path

For me there's another dimension to this:

a lifestyle entrepreneur focuses on providing value rather than on profit, knowing that by doing so, they are building a sustainable business. it's also a reciprocal thing; the lifestyle entrepreneur  shows respect for the lifestyle of others by providing high value.

A lifestyle entrepreneur is also location-independent. He is not tied down to a physical office, or a particular country. He choose to work from wherever he is, as long as he has access to the internet. His business system can be fully or semi-automated so that he has more time to focus on things that matter to him the most.

The reason I LOVE the term Lifestyle Entrepreneur is because it's a personal definition for each person.  What I consider a success and enough money is different for someone else and that's OK.  One thing that unites us as a community is our support for each other in pursuit of whatever our dream is.

For me, it's being able to stay home with my children and participate in all their activities.  For someone else it may be to travel the world.  While I would love to go back to Hawaii, my children are my priority, my happiness, my life.  And I will do everything in my power to be there for them.

To me a Lifestyle Entrepreneur is someone who truly finds what they love to do first and then... finds a way to make money from it. Unfortunately this also includes the many unscrupulous, unethical and even immoral entrepreneurs on the Internet. Just because a person is a Lifestyle Entrepreneur does not make them good or respectable. Lifestyle Entrepreneurs are like lawyers: there are bad ones but there are also some wonderful, upstanding ones.

For me the most effective Lifestyle Entrepreneur is without a doubt someone who loves what they do and then builds a money-making business around it BUT also is a person of values and character that is reflected in how they conduct themselves in business and personal matters. They possess a balanced and controlled approach in decision-making, successfully live outside the bounds and controls of traditional employment, enjoy helping others succeed and actively celebrate the fruits of their labor with those they love.

Those are the goals that drive me every day.

When I think of a lifestyle entrepreneur, the iconic image I can't escape is someone sitting on a beach with his laptop or even just a smartphone, using leverage around the world to make income while simultaneously living a "free life." To me it's associated with high adrenaline activities like skydiving, snowboarding, and doing much more of those activities.

I know some lifestyle entrepreneurs but not many...basically I think the ultimate goal is for someone to be happy making money while still doing the activities and being around people they genuinely love and want to hang out with...not sure how common that is. Everyone is different and wants different things. A $10 million house won't make everyone happy but it'll make some, some people want a big family, while some want few or no kids. Some love traveling all the time, and some don't. I think having consistent income coming in gives you more freedom to basically choose how you want to spend your time and money, and that's what makes a true lifestyle entrepreneur.
