Best Website Hosting

Picking a hosting service for your website is an important decision.

You want the right balance of services, prices, and reliability to support your website properly so it can make you money online.

While you may not need a hosting company if you are building your website on a hosted platform (like SBI, Typepad, Jimdo, Weebly, etc.), if you are using Wordpress or your own systems, a reliable hosting company is critical.

My current recommendation for website hosting is BlueHost.

Well known in the hosting industry, BlueHost offers a competitive feature set at great prices.

Hosting package features include:

  • Easy to use 1-click automatic WordPress installation
  • Unlimited space on 1 account
  • Unlimited domains on 1 account
  • Unlimited data transfer
  • Free domain name
  • Email, FTP, SSL, PHP
  • Free Site Builder
  • No set-up fees
  • Excellent customer service

I use BlueHost myself and like them so much I became an affiliate, too!

If you are looking for website hosting, I recommend BlueHost to you.

Sounds interesting, I will take a look at this.

I'm pretty happy with BlueHost. I have a WordPress blog. I just upgraded to the latest version of WordPress and all I had to do was press a button on the BlueHost admin panel.

Down the road, I'm looking at other hosting solutions, such as Synthesis (from Copyblogger), for a more robust solution. However, I can't justify that expense until I have time to do more with my site.

I've been using Bluehost for about two years and couldn't be happier. I currently own/manage 4 websites hosted with them, and have found their tech support second to none. You get a local (Utah) tech support person that knows his/her stuff, not some script reader from another country.

I've also gotten a question about Site Build It hosting.  Just to answer that briefly here:

SBI does include hosting in its services and I do recommend them highly.  Their hosting is only for their own products, though, and they also offer much more than just hosting (including keyword research, SEO training, support forums, etc.).  That comprehensive SBI package can be really valuable for new web entrepreneurs.

If you have questions about using SBI please post a question in the Forum or visit for more details.

There is a missunderstanding from my site - what is the difference between registering a domain name and a webhost service? I saw bluehost is offering to register the domain and webhost it? Could register a domain name at and then use the webhost service at bluehost? Thanks for your help!

is this where i would have my blog hosted also? i am confused as to difference between blog and websites...thanks!

Hi Renate,

A blog is a type of website.  So yes, a hosting service is where the files for your website or blog are stored.

Called BlueHost because of this recommendation.

They are GREAT!

I am currently reading Internet Riches, I did it backwards, read Click millionaires first. Anyway, I am finding a lot of helpful stuff. I have a question for Scott, or anyone who knows the answer. In this book you recommend iPowerweb, you don't seem to anymore. Can you tell me why, or why you feel BlueHost is better? Thanks.

Comment by Scott Fox on February 20, 2013 at 10:21am

Hi Kim,

Good question.  I revoked my recommendation of iPowerWeb back in 2008.  They seem to have grown too fast and their customer and technical support crumbled.  More details about why I no longer recommend iPowerWeb are here:

Better, more up to date recommendations for hosting are above.  (Or you can certainly start a new discussion in the Forum to collect other opinions, too.)

I hope that helps.

Thanks, Scott. I read that link, it is interesting. At the time I bought Clickmillionaires I did not buy Internet Riches because it seemed outdated already. I have been working my way through it now and should have read it first. Some of the info. is old but most of it has been very helpful.

Scott, thank you for your bleuhost recommendation.  I will check it out for our new website.  I am glad to be part this forum.

Has anyone had any experience with It seems like it is cheaper than either SBI or bluehost, and (from a non-expert website creator) it looks like it has equivalent features, if not more compared to either of those two sites.

Hi Scott,

Feel free to post this question in the forum under this category: where you will get more responses.  I have not had personal experience with 1and1 but other members may have.  I read a few negative things about them when researching so I stopped looking into them.  I went with BlueHost which was very inexpensive.

I started using bluehost based on the recommendation from this website and I could not be happier. Their customer service is second to none. I can't recommend them enough. Their patience borders on sainthood. Thanks for an awesome recommendation Scott.

"Sainthood" for BlueHost - wow!  Glad that our recommendations here have been so helpful to you, Shane.

And thanks for sharing your experience here so others can benefit.

I use for hosting my sites, Scott T., and I have had no issues with them.  They have turnkey site builders for WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc. Also, forums and wikis.  I've built WordPress sites from scratch there before, too, but now that they have the builder, I typically just go that route.
